Cleaning Method of Leather Car Seat Covers

Apply these easy tricks to keep your leather car seat covers clean.

1. Carefully vacuum clean car seats, and remove all debris, and dust from crevices.

2. Apply ammonia-free cleaning solution on seats lightly. Do not pour cleaning solution extra as it can seep into the cushion seams and leave stains on the seats.

3. Wipe clean seats with a dry cloth.

4. Once your car seat covers dry, you can apply a sunscreen-based leather conditioner to keep the seat covers safe from cracking and fading. Condition adds shine and makes leather resistant to stains

Method to Make Leather Cleaning Solution at Home

The best way to keep leather car seat covers stain-proof is to wipe spills as soon as something spills on the seats. Apart from this, you can mix water and castile soap or liquid dishwashing soap together in a 5:1 ratio. Apart from this, there are some more easy DIY ideas that you can use to remove stains from leather car seat covers. Some of these are:

1. Mix 1/4 cup of vinegar in 1/2 cup of olive oil, and fill this solution in a spray bottle. You can spray this solution on stains, leave it as it is for a few minutes and then wipe it with a clean cloth.

2. You can apply non-gel-based toothpaste on stains, and scrub a toothbrush lightly on stained areas. Later, as you are done, you can wipe out the area with a clean cloth.

3. Dip a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol and dab it on the stains. As the stain vanishes, you can apply a cleaning solution with warm water on the affected area.

Note: Excess use of rubbing alcohol can dry up the leather, so use it in limited quantities.

4. Baking soda is good for removing oil or grease stains. You can sprinkle baking soda on the soiled area, and rub this area with a soft cloth. You can leave it overnight, baking soda will absorb oil. Next day, you can remove the residue with a dry cloth.

All the above methods are easy and very useful in maintaining the shine of leather car seat covers.
